This customer in Glen Head requested a free home energy assessment. Upon arrival they had advised that they just moved into the house and feels the house has different temperatures throughout the whole house, mostly on the first floor. It was determined that the attic was not insulated. Therefor all the heat was traveling from the first floor into the attic, creating the first floor to be colder. To improve the comfort on the first floor the attic was insulated with blown in cellulose insulation. This contains the heat in the home, resulting in a warmer home.
This customer from Selden had requested a home energy assessment because she felt her floors were too cold. During the assessment it was apparent that the crawl space was not insulated. This is why the homeowner felt the floors were cold. To improve the temperature of the floor the crawl space was insulated and air sealed with spray foam. After the crawlspace insulation was installed the customer could feel the difference in the temperature of the floors.
This Lloyd Harbor customer had a Free Energy Assessment. The homeowner had concerns that the floors over the crawl space were cold. As the assessment was being performed it was determined that there was no insulation in the crawl space. Not having a crawl space properly insulated allows cold air to enter underneath the home affecting the comfort of the rooms above. By insulating the crawl space walls it makes that space warmer and making the floors above more comfortable.
After Triple H completed an energy assessment of this customer's home in Northport, it was determined that their attic was improperly insulated. Before blowing in cellulose insulation, we sealed the high hats (can lights) with covers so none of the heat from the house escapes into the attic. This customer will have a warm home and lower energy bills due to the cellulose insulation and air sealing that was done.
The customer in Northport had concerns about cold floors above their basement. After completing the assessment it was determined that the rim joist had not been properly sealed, allowing cold air to enter the basement and effect the floors above. Triple H used closed cell spray foam to insulate and air seal the rim joist. By doing this it will keep cold air out and will keep the basement warmer resulting in warmer floors upstairs.
