Insulation Services Case Studies: Cantilevered Floors- Freeport, NY

Challenge
Mr. J called Triple H wanting an estimate for insulation for the overhang/cantilever around his home. We sent specialist Ryan out to his home in Freeport to see what's going on and talk to Mr. J about his concerns. A cantilevered floor sticks out past the wall below it. This building detail allows air to leak in, creating cold floors above and cold ceilings below.
Solution
After speaking with Mr. J about all his concerns. Ryan recommended using dense-packed cellulose insulation in the cantilever to stop airflow and insulates. Ryan also recommends insulating the porch ceiling with batt insulation to help with some drafts coming through the house. This results in warm floors and ceilings, fewer drafts, and overall increased comfort.
